save a breast, save the world!

As some of you may be aware either from seeing all of the pink ribbons people are wearing or from conversations while intoxicated during OktoberFest! This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you are over 40 and especially if you have a history of cancer in your family, go get a mammogram and keep getting them regularly. For example, my mom had breast cancer and you better bet your butt I'll be heading down to my nearest mammographer in 11 years!

Tangent: So there's no Oktoberfest in Philly for some reason, you'd think in a city with more bars per capita than people, they'd be excited to have another excuse to drink and party. Maybe it's all the irish here...hmm...guess I can't wait for St. Patrick's day! In Germany they celebrate for 16 days! It sounds like they are in need of a liverologist. End Tangent

Philly decided to color at least 3 fountains in the city pink. The first fountain is the Love Park one. I took pictures of this park in one of the August blog posts. Here it is after pinkification

There were 3 girls with pinkish umbrellas posing in front of the fountain. I wonder if they really knew what it means or if they thought it was just a fashion statement.

Next fountain is much smaller and next to city hall.

And a pool they colored pink as well. This one's looked a little dingy.

Looks like the leaves are starting to turn color. Fall colors...can't wait to see them in person.
They're starting to fall off too...hmm.

It's getting cold here and it's raining like mad at least once a week. It's nice if you're indoors, not if you're outside battling a war of words and flying birds with evil drivers and their equally angry passengers who are staunchly defending driver's rights against the menace of philadelphian student cyclists.

I have a biochem/physiology quiz on Tuesday and it's the end of yet another module, this one was muscle weakness and yep you guessed it we studied muscles. Next one is weight loss and yup you guessed it, we'll be studying metabolism...I think.

Punched out 6 secondaries last night. Waiting on the secondaries from UC's, these guys screen like mad to filter out the evil applicants from the good ones. I'm hoping to slip through the cracks despite my evilosity.
