Adenylate Cyclases

Ok, so during one of our biochem lectures we were being taught about this very fundamental enzyme in our body. Almost every, if not ever cell in your body has it. It does a myriad of things. It responds to hormonal signals, it's the target for many disease processes, etc etc. Lots of things. The enzyme is called Adenylate Cyclases, so being an ultra nerd I thought that might make for a cool name for a cycling team. I confered with my neighbors, who were also cyclists and giant nerds, and they concurred. So hence, Adenylate Cyclases cycling team was born.

And what does a fledgling cycling team need? Well a logo, team jersey and spandex and t-shirts for the non-cyclists fans in the class. So I delved deeper into the annals of biochemistry and pulled out a potential logo. You see, adenylate cyclase takes this compound called ATP, basically fuel for your body, and turns it into a cyclic compound called cyclic AMP. Again, being a super nerd I thought hmm, how about a bicycle with cyclic AMP wheels for a logo. I confered, my nerd friends agreed and thus we have a visual presence for our new born semi-pro/pro cycling team.

Tomorrow we'll have an inaugural ride with 4 members of the team. I'll take pics.

Anyway, I'd like to give a shout out to my homeys at Nemours Children's Clinic in Wilmington Delaware. Shouldn't you be working?
